Man Charged with Stealing Woman's Underwear, Socks in Whitehall

Jozo Grgic told a judge the story, police Deputy Chief Richard Danko said.

In a classic case of putting your foot in your mouth, Whitehall Borough police are charging Jozo Grgic, 52, of Whitehall, with theft, harassment and creating a false fire alarm after Grgic admitted to stealing a woman's underwear and socks in the Wallace (Prospect) Park area, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said.

While appearing as a defendant during a Jan. 16 summary trial related to a separate harassment case involving the same woman, Grgic, who lives at 1651 Skyline Dr., Apt. 24, said in front of District Magistrate David J. Barton that he pulled a fire alarm at 1651 Skyline on Dec. 24 so that people would leave that building in order for him to steal items that the woman had left in its laundry room, according to Danko.

In addition to the miscellaneous socks and underwear, the other items that Grgic is charged with stealing from the laundry room are four pairs of jeans, five couch cushion covers and two sets of bed sheets. All told, the items amount to $1,200 in aggregate value, Danko said.

Grgic is also still being charged with the other harassment offense that caused the Jan. 16 hearing. That offense occurred on Dec. 20 in Whitehall, Danko said. (UPDATE: The Dec. 20 harassment charge was withdrawn on Feb. 19.)

What a shame Whitehall police have to spend time on such idiots. Of course there's one Whitehall resident who is just overjoyed that her police department isn't arresting DUI drivers. (grin)

Whitehall Police are one of the finest Police department out there.. Look at Brentwood and Baldwin. They have officers who could careless about drugs and people getting robbed, they just worry about getting that nightly DUi arrest so they get their money from Court that they have everyday. They also leave the Boro unsafe cause they are at the hospital with the DUI arrest and not patrolling the boro like they should be.. Not saying that DUI's are important, In small Boros you may only have 2 officers out at night,. So they leave the Boro unprotected while they are out making their nightly DUI..If you follow Meisel from Brentwood at night you will see he goes right for the Bars and sits across the street and pulls over any car that leaves.. And No i dont drink and have neve been pulled over just want my Boro protected by officers that we are paying over $100,000 to protect us.

I have to make a comment in reference to "BaldwinGrad85". I honestly can't believe you said that Brentwood/Baldwin officers could careless about drugs and people getting robbed and that they only worry about the nightly DUI arrests. I believe when these officers took the oath they truly want to protect and serve. I have personally seen the presence of the Baldwin police on patrol and not just sitting waiting to catch a DUI. It is against the law to drink and drive period, so if you are getting pulled over for this offense, you deserve it. Driving drunk is just as bad as being robbed, in my opinion, as someone can get killed just as easily either by a car (with an intoxicated person driving) or a loaded weapon. Talk to some of the families who lost loved ones due to drunk drivers. Also, I believe that Baldwin police just arrested William Joseph Murphy III, who was responsible for many different burglaries in the area. I know that the crime rate has gone down in Baldwin. I think the Baldwin police dept are doing a fine job. Thank you...

Have you noticed the crime in Whitehall lately? Yah they are real classy in Whitehall.
Sandra January 25, 2013 at 01:28 PM
Oh, I know. I was joking because some people comment on here saying Whitehall is classier than Baldwin. lol
Margaret French January 25, 2013 at 01:41 PM
Have you noticed that most of it is up at The Residences of Whitehall or whatever it is called now... the equivalent to Baldwin's "green ghetto?" (Both still pigs, just a different color lipstick) Also, notice a lot of those arrested in Whitehall are not from Whitehall.

i have a police scanner at home and what you dont know is whitehall hides alot of the issues that go on in the boro from its residents!
cc January 30, 2013 at 10:24 PM
Margaret lots of the ones arrested in Whitehall are from Baldwin.
cc January 30, 2013 at 10:27 PM
Henry I also have a scanner and listen to most of the boroughs around and Whitehall keeps pretty busy at night. Baldwin on the other hand just looks out for DUI's.

All I know is that stealing used possibly still soiled clothing from a laundromat that you vacated by pulling a fire alarm is....well.....just about as weird and desperate a thing a person can do. Did this dude only take items that had at least finished the first rinse cycle? I mean going around man handling other peoples dirty underwear is not exactly an activity that appeals to most people who value the phrase "Wash Your Hands" This entire story actually makes my skin crawl from the creep factor.

BaldwinGrad85 you hit it on the nail about Baldwin Borough Police. I am glad Whitehall Police investigates all cases no matter how big or small. Stealing is stealing no matter if it is money, property or underwear.
