'This has really made me lose faith in human decency.' - Tabitha Stockdale

While the drivers involved in a hit-and-run incident on March 8 may have ignored Robert Stockdale, his daughter, Tabitha, wants to make sure that no one else will.

Robert, of Stowe Township, was 50 years old when he was left for dead near the on the border of and Pleasant Hills boroughs that night.

The Allegheny County Police Department's Homicide Unit is still investigating the incident, which happened at around 8:40 p.m., and officers are requesting the public's assistance in identifying the two vehicles involved and their drivers.

One of the vehicles is a 2003-2007 white Chevrolet Express van or GMC Savana. The van might still be missing its passenger's-side sideview mirror. The second vehicle is small and dark, but no further information about it is available at this time.

And now Tabitha has made an emotional plea for more help.

"Both drivers fled the scene and left my dad to die without even the decency to stop and call for help," she said. "This has really made me lose faith in human decency ...

"These people and their vehicles need to come forward. I have never endured such pain, and for it to come in this way is all the more hurtful. I will never understand how a human being—not just one but two or more—could leave another for dead and go about their lives like they've done nothing.

"The total disregard for human life has sickened me to my stomach."

Both vehicles were last seen heading north toward Pittsburgh on Route 51 just past the cloverleaf, county police said.

"I am asking for any kind of help in finding these cars," Tabitha said. "Someone in Baldwin must have seen more."

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 412-473-1300.
