UPDATES: Baldwin Borough Police Involved in Pursuit of THREE Men

One man is still missing.

More details have emerged from Tuesday afternoon’s police chase that has resulted in the arrests of two men and the damage of a SUV.

The Baldwin-Whitehall Patch has learned that the West Mifflin Borough and Baldwin Borough police departments were pursuing three men on Tuesday afternoon at around 2:40 p.m. after West Mifflin police said that the men had stolen a television from the Sears store in West Mifflin’s Century III Mall.

The men led police on a vehicular chase that ended when the men’s vehicle smashed into a Baldwin Borough police SUV and one other West Mifflin police vehicle near the intersection of East Carson Street and Glass Run Road in Pittsburgh’s Hays neighborhood (just over the border). Another West Mifflin police vehicle was damaged earlier in the chase.

After the men struck the Baldwin police SUV, police were able to arrest two of the men, but a third man—Darrell Lee Cammon, 49, of South Trenton Avenue in Wilkinsburg Borough—fled from police on foot toward the Monongahela River.

Baldwin Borough police Chief Michael Scott said that police are still looking for Cammon but that Baldwin’s police department in particular is no longer involved in that search.

One of the two men arrested is believed to be Cammon’s son—Darrell Yusuf Cammon, 25, of Park Hill Drive in Pittsburgh’s Homewood area—Scott said. The other man is Charles Smith, 28, of Chauncey Street in Pittsburgh’s Upper Hill District neighborhood.

Scott said that no police officers have been injured in the pursuit of the three men but that Baldwin’s damaged police SUV will most not likely not be used for police duty again.
