Men from Brentwood Borough and Ohio are charged.

Not a Happy Birthday

A maroon pickup truck passed a police officer at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday while the officer was driving south in the 3600 block of Willett Road.

The truck's right headlight was not functioning, according to a police report, and its driver was behaving somewhat erratically, drifting toward the road's center line but not crossing it.

The officer turned around and caught up to the driver—Robert Rodwich, 51, of Willett Road in Brentwood Borough—and approached him as he was backing into his driveway.

The officer smelled alcohol coming from Rodwich and reported that Rodwich admitted to recently drinking beer while celebrating his birthday at a local restaurant.

Rodwich was put through field-sobriety tests, which he failed, before being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

He refused to be subjected to a blood test and was left at his residence in the custody of his mother.

Return to Sender

A officer driving behind a red pickup truck on Becks Run Road at its Agnew Road intersection around 4:15 a.m. on Saturday noticed a loose and loud exhaust pipe on the truck.

The officer continued to follow the truck and eventually stopped it on Joseph Street, according to a police report, where its driver—Ryan D. King, 34, of Harbor Creek Drive in —said that he had a cracked exhaust manifold.

While speaking with King, the officer smelled alcohol and reported that King admitted to recently drinking beer.

King was put through field-sobriety and breath-analyzer tests, which he failed, before being arrested and charged with DUI.

He was then taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for a blood test before being released to the custody of a friend in the 3000 block of Brentwood Avenue in Brentwood—the place that King said that he had been drinking at prior to driving.

Results of King's blood test are pending.
