Whitehall Borough police officers on patrol in the Wallace (Prospect) Park area observed a man slouched down in a parked vehicle at around 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 21, Whitehall police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said.
Officers were unsure if the man was in need of medical attention, Dolfi said, and made contact with him. As they were talking to him, the officers observed numerous plastic bags in his vehicle that contained suspected marijuana, as well as some drug paraphernalia and amount of cash packaged in a way to allow ease of handling and delivery, the chief said.
The materials were taken by the officers along with James A. Lenzie, 36, of North Lewis Run Road in Jefferson Hills Borough. Lenzie was eventually brought to the Allegheny County Jail and is being charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A resident of the 1600 block of Parkline Drive contacted Whitehall police at around 2:08 p.m. on Aug. 20 to report that two DVDs were recently stolen from a mailbox there.
The company that sent the discs confirmed that they were delivered, but a person for whom they were not intended apparently took them.
The discs are estimated in total value at $30.69.
