Distressed Woman, Suspected Heroin Found in Route 51 Eat’n Park Bathroom

On June 22 at approximately 1:32 a.m., police officers responded to call from the that a female was lying in distress on the floor in the ladies bathroom there, wedged between a toilet and a wall.

The officers reported that, when they arrived at the scene, the woman’s skin tone was purplish and that it was apparent that she had recently vomited.

The officers summoned medics from , who arrived and treated the woman—later identified as Jamie Lynn Reis, 28, of 3783 Churchview Ave. in —at the scene before taking her to UPMC Mercy Hospital for further treatment, Chief Donald R. Dolfi said.

Dolfi said that police discovered five stamp bags of suspected heroin in the area that the woman was lying, as well as drug paraphernalia, such as tourniquets and syringes.

Apt. 12 of 1701 Parkline Drive a Busy Place

  • On June 21 at approximately 7:50 p.m., Whitehall police responded to a report of loud and disturbing music at 1701 Parkline Drive, Apt. 12, in the . When officers arrived at the scene, they confirmed that the volume of the music coming from Apt. 12 was excessive and charged its leaseholder—Michael Scarnati, 19—with disorderly conduct. This marks .
  • On June 23 at approximately 1:21 a.m, Whitehall police officers came back to 1701 Parkline, Apt. 12, in response to a burglary call. The occupants of Apt. 12 said that they left that apartment at around 11:30 p.m. the night before (less than two hours prior), and when they arrived back, they noticed that their 40-inch high-definition TV (valued at around $532.85) was missing. The officers searched the apartment to look for evidence and are processing some items for fingerprints at the Allegheny County Crime Lab. An investigation is in process.

 

Public Intoxication at Caste Village Giant Eagle

On June 25 at approximately 12:03 a.m., Whitehall officers on patrol near the observed a male walking in the Giant Eagle parking lot in what Dolfi called a “very unsure” manner. Officers observed that the individual almost fell a couple of times, Dolfi said.

Upon approaching the man—later identified as Philip James Azzolina, 28, of 1543 Roosevelt Ave. in South Park Township—the officers reported finding Azzolina to be extremely intoxicated.

Dolfi said that the officers took Azzolina into custody for his own protection and charged him with public intoxication. UPDATE: The charge .

Vandalism at 1765 Skyline Drive

On June 25 at approximately 1:06 p.m, a resident from 1765 Skyline Drive in the Whitehall Place Apartments complex requested Whitehall police presence in the rear of the building there.

When officers arrived, the resident showed them that her car, which she says that she parked there just after midnight that same day, had been vandalized. The car’s driver’s-side mirror was broken off, and its trunk had been scratched multiple times.

The victim said that she had only recently moved into the building and could not come up with a motive as to why her car was targeted.

The officers eventually found the missing mirror in one piece near her car. Police are investigating.

Stolen Copper at Whitehall Place

On June 27 at approximately 10:47 a.m., maintenance personnel at the Whitehall Place Apartments complex flagged down a patrolling Whitehall police officer to report that some storage garages in the rear of 1633 Parkline had been broken into over the weekend.

Several hasps on the garages’ doors had been cut.

Police determined that the garages were being rented by a commercial plumbing company and summoned the owner of that company, who said that copper belonging to his company had been removed from the garages.

Officers took physical evidence from the scene and sent it to the county crime lab for analysis. Dolfi said that police have identified people of interest in regard to the incident and that an investigation is proceeding.
