Daylight Burglary Reported at Whitehall Home

And one other theft to report in these borough police notes.

Burglary

A Whitehall Borough resident came home from work at around 2:48 p.m. on Aug. 7 to find that the home had been burglarized, according to Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko.

The burglary—along Wainwright Avenue (just over the Brentwood Borough border)—happened some time after that morning when the resident left early for work, but neighbors did not report seeing or hearing anything suspicious, Danko said. Approximately $4,150 worth of personal property had been taken, including jewelry, an iPod and two laptops.

The front door had been kicked in, and a side door was left standing open, according to the deputy chief. The Allegheny County Crime Scene Unit processed the scene, and the incident is under investigation.

Bike Stolen from Front Yard

A resident from the 4800 block of Doverdell Drive called police at around 10:20 a.m. on Saturday to report that, sometime overnight, his son's green Mongoose BMX bicycle had been stolen from his home's front yard, Danko said.

One neighbor reported hearing some noise from near the home at around midnight. The incident is under investigation.

The bike was not chained down, according to the deputy chief.
