Baldwin Police Arrest Three Men for Suspicion of DUI

Luke Wagner, David Connell and Justin Hunter all admit to drinking, police report in these briefs from Nov. 14-27.

DUI Arrest from Brownsville Road

arrested Luke John Wagner, 23, of 2112 Los Angeles Ave. in Pittsburgh’s Beechview neighborhood, for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol on Brownsville Road at around 2:52 a.m. on Nov. 17.

The officer was on patrol when he reported observing Wagner failing to obey a stop sign while turning left onto Brownsville from Hollowhaven Drive.

The officer eventually stopped Wagner on Parkvue Drive off of Streets Run Road in and, upon speaking with him, reported that Wagner admitted to recently drinking beer. The officer also reported seeing cans of beer inside Wagner’s vehicle, including an open case of beer.

The officer put Wagner through field-sobriety tests, which he reported that he failed. Wagner was then arrested and taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for a blood test. Results of that test are pending.

He was eventually taken to his residence and released to the custody of his father.

DUI Arrest from Streets Run Road

A police officer on patrol reported observing a vehicle speeding on Streets Run at around 2:27 a.m. on Nov. 17.

The officer then followed the driver of the vehicle in question—David Joseph Connell, 23, of 5663 Tracy Drive in Bethel Park—on Streets Run and reported that Connell made an erratic left turn onto Doyle Road.

The officer eventually stopped Connell’s vehicle nearby and, upon speaking with him, reported that Connell admitted to recently drinking beer.

The officer put Connell through field-sobriety and breath-analyzer tests, and Connell failed them all, according to the officer. Connell was then arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and taken to Jefferson Regional for a blood test. Results of that test are pending. 

He was eventually taken to his residence and released to the custody of his parents.

DUI Arrest After Fight Reported on Hazelhurst Avenue

A Baldwin Borough police officer drove to the area of Hazelhurst Avenue in north Baldwin at around 12:34 a.m. on Nov. 24 after receiving a report of a possible fight in the street there. 

While the officer was approaching the scene, he observed a vehicle making a left turn onto Vernon Avenue from Mellott Road that matched the description of a vehicle leaving the area of the reported fight.

The officer caught up to the vehicle in question—driven by Justin Coley Hunter, 20, of 1447 Maple Drive in Whitehall—and stopped it near the intersection of Willett Road and Brevard Avenue in Brentwood Borough

Upon speaking with Hunter, the officer reported that Hunter admitted to recently drinking beer.

The officer put Hunter through field-sobriety tests, which the officer reported that he failed. The officer also reported that Hunter said, during the tests, “Why don’t we cut to the chase? I’m drunk.”

Hunter was arrested for suspicion of DUI (underage) and taken to Jefferson Regional for a blood test. Results of that test are pending.

He was eventually taken to his residence.

No charges have been filed related to the reported fight.
