Baldwin Borough Police Briefs (Sept. 19-25)

Man is arrested on suspicion of DUI after police report that he struck several roadwork barriers on a closed section of Becks Run Road.

On Sept. 19 at approximately 2:34 a.m., a officer on patrol observed a vehicle traveling on a in north with no active rear lights.

The officer reported that the vehicle in question had struck several roadwork barriers, including two head-on, and sideswiped several others.

The officer stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Becks Run and East Carson Street and reported its driver—Timothy Allen Ray, 41, of 423 1/2 Kirk Ave. in Pittsburgh's Carrick neighborhood—as showing signs of intoxication. The officer also reported that one of the vehicle’s passengers—John J. Schrader, 29, of 1716 E. Carson St., Apt. 1, in Pittsburgh's South Side neighborhood—possessed an open alcoholic beverage container.

The officer put Ray through field-sobriety tests, which he reported that Ray failed, before also subjecting him to a breath-analyzer test. The officer reported that Ray failed that breath test, as well.

Ray was arrested and transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital for a blood test. Results of that test are pending. He is being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Schrader is being cited for possessing an open alcoholic beverage container inside a vehicle.
