A police officer reported having to drive on the sidewalk along Keeport Drive in south Baldwin to avoid a vehicle traveling in the wrong lane at approximately 2:17 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30.

The officer turned around to follow the vehicle in question, which eventually turned left onto Knoedler Road, where the officer reported that the vehicle, again, was operating on the wrong side of the road.

The officer stopped the vehicle, and upon approaching its driver—Keith John Wallace, 46, of 4700 Doverdell Drive in —reported detecting an odor of alcohol.

The officer put Wallace through field-sobriety tests, which the officer reported that he failed. Wallace was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for a blood test. Results of that test are pending.

The officer eventually released Wallace into the custody of his father.
