Baldwin Borough Police Briefs (March 28-April 4)

An alleged drunk driver piloted a vehicle on Monday morning that contained a 4-year-old girl, among others.

On April 4 at approximately 2:05 a.m., a officer began following a suspicious vehicle leaving 5550 Brownsville Road in .

The officer reported that the suspicious vehicle was driving erratically on Brownsville and eventually turned east on Curry Hollow Road, where it began exceeding the posted speed limit and regularly driving into the oncoming lane of traffic.

The officer eventually pulled the vehicle over on Curry Hollow, and when he approached the vehicle, he noticed that it contained five passengers, including the driver – James Sedlock, 27, who lives at the 5550 Brownsville home.

The officer reported that Sedlock did not have his driver’s license on him.

The officer also reported detecting an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and a nearly full beer can in its center console.

The officer put Sedlock through field-sobriety tests and a breath-analyzer test. The officer reported that the result of the breath-analyzer test was .098. The legal limit is .08.

The officer then arrested Sedlock on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and took him to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for a blood test. Results of that test are pending.

The vehicle’s other four passengers – including Sedlock’s live-in girlfriend and her 4-year-old daughter – were all transported to their residences and not charged with a crime.

Sedlock is also being charged with careless driving and driving with an open alcoholic beverage in his vehicle.
