Baldwin Borough Police Briefs (June 6-12)

Two men charged with DUI in separate incidents.

DUI, Part I

While on patrol on June 7, a officer observed a vehicle in the 2800 block of Mellott Road stopped and angled toward a yard with its right turn signal activated.

As the officer neared that vehicle, driven by Brian Gordon, 42, of 2892 Amy Drive in South Park Township, it continued traveling up Mellott to Vernon Avenue, almost striking parked vehicles and running its tires on a sidewalk for a short period, according to police reports.

Police stopped Gordon's vehicle at the intersection of Willett Road and Kingsley Avenue in Brentwood Borough.

Gordon told police that he had been in Homestead Borough's Waterfront section and that he was following his GPS to get home.

The officer reported detecting an odor of alcohol emanating from Gordon's vehicle and that Gordon's eyes were glassy and red.

According to police reports, Gordon was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after failing field sobriety tests and was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for a blood test. Results of that test are pending.

In addition to the DUI charge, Gordon is also being charged with careless driving.

DUI, Part II

Baldwin Borough police arrested Justin Lee Wilkinson, 32, of 4767 W. Lawnview Drive in , on June 11 on two counts of driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

Wilkinson also faces a number of other charges, including one count each of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, terroristic threats, driving without a license, driving while his operating privilege is suspended or revoked, and careless driving, and two counts of prohibited acts for possessing marijuana for personal use.

Police discovered two bags of suspected marijuana in Wilkinson's vehicle.

UPDATE: All of these charges against Wilkinson were , but two counts of disorderly conduct were added. Wilkinson was fined $239.50 for one of them and $123.50 for the other.
