On July 17 at approximately 1:02 a.m., a officer was summoned to the 3100 block of Vernon Ave. by a Brentwood Borough police officer who had followed a vehicle to that location.
The Brentwood officer said that the vehicle in question had failed to obey a stop sign at the intersection of Vernon and Mellott Road in , according to the Baldwin police report.
The Baldwin officer approached the driver of the vehicle—Joseph William Fahy III, 35, of 3130 Vernon, Apt. 1, in Baldwin—and reported detecting a strong odor of alcohol coming from Fahy.

After the officer put Fahy through field-sobriety tests, which he said that Fahy failed, the officer arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and transported him to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for a blood test. Results of that test are pending.
Baldwin police transported Fahy to his residence and released him.
