Baldwin Borough Police Briefs (Aug. 1-14)

Theft at Michael's Restaurant, and two suspected DUIs.

Theft at Michael's Restaurant

On Aug. 10 at approximately 5 p.m., the owner of on Churchview Avenue called the Police Department to report that a man in a white SUV stole three items that were left on a curb outside of Michael's.

The victim said that the items were for sale and had stickers on them displaying the prices.

The items taken were a box of building blocks valued at $20, a box of stuffed animals valued at $7 and a toy truck ramp valued at $5.

The incident is under investigation.

DUI on Schuette Road

On Aug. 10 at approximately 10:55 p.m., a Baldwin Borough police officer stopped a vehicle driven by James Shrader Robson V, 29, of 2769 Churchview Ave., Apt. 7, in Pittsburgh's Carrick neighborhood. The traffic stop took place near the intersection of Schuette Road and Gary Drive for what the officer believed to be speeding and following another vehicle too closely.

Upon approaching Robson, the officer reported detecting a strong odor of alcohol emanating from Robson's breath. The officer put Robson through field-sobriety tests, which the officer reported that he failed, and arrested him for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The officer transported Robson to the , where the officer reported that Robson also failed a breath-analyzer test.

Police discovered that Robson is not a licensed driver and charged him with that offense in addition to DUI, speeding and following too closely. UPDATE: The following too closely and speeding charges were .

Underage DUI on Streets Run Road

On Aug. 11 at approximately 3:10 a.m., a Baldwin Borough police officer stopped a vehicle driven by Samantha Eli Kowel-Vold, 18, of 209 E. Willock Road in Brentwood Borough, for what the officer reported was failing to obey a stop sign at the intersection of Streets Run and Stark roads. 

Upon approaching Kowel-Vold, the officer reported detecting an odor of alcohol emanating from her. The officer put Kowel-Vold through field-sobriety tests, which the officer reported that she failed, and arrested her for suspicion of DUI.

The officer transported Kowel-Vold to the Baldwin police station, where the officer reported that Kowel-Vold also failed a breath-analyzer test.

Police charged Kowel-Vold with underage DUI and failure to obey a stop sign. (UPDATE: The failure to obey a stop sign charge was .)
