Baldwin Borough Police Briefs (April 11-17)

One Whitehall and one Brentwood driver are both charged with DUI in Baldwin early Saturday morning.

On April 16 at approximately 12:22 a.m., a officer reported that his vehicle was nearly struck by another vehicle as it came into the officer’s lane on Streets Run Road near the Prospect Road bridge in .

The officer turned around and followed the vehicle, which the officer reported was following another vehicle too closely on Streets Run. The vehicle in question eventually turned onto Doyle Road, where the officer reported that it nearly struck a curb. At that point, the officer pulled that vehicle over near Baldwin’s Doyle and Girard Road intersection and identified its driver as Ronald Yori, 57, of 204 Peach Drive in .

The officer reported detecting an odor of alcohol coming from Yori’s breath. After putting Yori through field-sobriety tests, the officer arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The officer then searched Yori’s vehicle, reported finding a small amount of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia inside and charged Yori with possession of those items as well.

Yori was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for a blood test. Results of that test are pending.

Police are also charging Yori with failure to drive on the right side of the roadway and with following another vehicle too closely.

Later that day at approximately 3:50 a.m., a Baldwin police officer reported that a vehicle failed to adequately stop at a borough stop sign while traveling east through the intersection of Churchview Avenue and Walton Road.

The officer pulled that vehicle over on Churchview a short while later, and based on the officer’s suspicion, the vehicle’s driver—Kevin Weber, 48, of 3021 Glendale Ave. in Brentwood Borough—was put through field-sobriety tests.

Based on those field-sobriety tests, the officer arrested Weber on suspicion of DUI. Police are also charging Weber with failure to stop at a stop sign.
