Assault, Other Charges for Whitehall Boro Man After July 17 Incident

And another Whitehall incident in these local police briefs.

Assault, Other Charges

Whitehall Borough police went to the 1500 block of Bevan Road at around 12:15 a.m. on July 17 in response to a disturbance call, Whitehall police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said.

En route to the location of the call, police received another call in regard to the incident, this one from a woman—described by Dolfi as "distraught"—who said that she was in fear of someone else in the area.

The woman gave police a description of that person—a man—who was walking on a nearby street. Officers detained that man, and Dolfi said that, while trying to identify him, the man told police that he knew why they were there.

Shortly later, officers found the woman who made the second call to police, Dolfi said, and she said that the detained man had recently jumped on the hood of her car, beat its windshield and threatened her.

The man—Charles Maxim Heppenstall, 22, of Bevan Road in Whitehall—refused to talk to police about the incident, Dolfi said. Nevertheless, Heppenstall is being charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment and public drunkenness.

Altered Documents Charge

A Whitehall police officer on patrol on Route 51 at around 6:15 p.m. on July 20 stopped a vehicle for operating with an invalid inspection sticker, Dolfi said.

Upon talking with the vehicle's driver—William Hruby, 21, of East Donora Road in Rostraver Township—the officer learned that the sticker did not belong to that particular vehicle, according to the chief.

Apparently, the sticker was taken from one vehicle and placed onto this other one, Dolfi said.

The sticker was taken for evidence, and Hruby has been charged with an altered, forged or counterfeit documents offense, as well as with operating a vehicle without insurance coverage.
