Community Corner

New Approach @ Meeting Tomorrow

I am so very proud of the community and with everyone's efforts, I believe that we are making an important step towards the improvement that our district desperately needs. I am looking forward to the school board meeting at the highschool tomorrow and I am also very excited to see how many people will be attending. I have thoroughly reviewed the many articles, blogs, and videos regarding last weeks meeting. With that being said, I think that we need to enter the SB meeting tomorrow with a new plan of action and a new attitude towards the SB members.

1.) What is our main goal here? It seems as if the number of people in attendance is the number one concern/goal of many of the angry residents. YES I believe that is important that members of the community show up. With a voter outcome of 2 out of every 10 people who vote, it is nice to see some of you finally getting involed. But our main goal attending these meetings should be CHANGE and I believe that we need to find a more effective way to communicate our feelings towards the board, in order to make changes. The truth of the matter is that there could be 100,000 people at the meeting tomorrow but if we all act disrespectfully, what is going to get accomplished? I understand that everyone is angry and upset with the decisions of the SB members, I am sick about it as well. But i think that we need to enter the meeting tomorrow with an actual plan of action, not everyone screaming their own hateful, personal comments towards the board in a very unorganized, distracting fashion. Last week was a chance for everyone to stand at the microphone and tell the SB members directly what their flaws and bad decisions were. I believe that we had a significant impact on these school directors and whether you want to believe it or not, they understand how angry we are. But if we go to the meeting tomorrow, stand at the mic and repeat ourselves, explaining to them that we hate them and that they are terrible, we are just telling them something that they already know. Why waste anymore time? Im ready to see improvements and changes being implemented as soon as possible. We need to come together and decide what we ACTUALLY want to get across to the board. We are swarming these meetings full force to help make things better for the kids, right? Not just to release personal anger that we've had built up for Marty for years now? Being disrputive and screaming at them the entire time is just delaying the improvements and change that the entire community is longing for. Its time to clean up baldwin's act, and if the SB can't do it own their own, we're here to help. Lets get Baldwin's reputation back to where it should be, and the residents attending the SB meeting tomorrow can contribute towards that by acting in a profession manner.

Also, is there any way we can make sure the board is actually listening to us and not sitting there playing on their i-phones? I watched Tracey Macek sit and text on her i-phone the ENTIRE meeting last week. Whats up with that? Are our opinions boring you Tracey?
