DogtoberFEST 2011

DogtoberFEST is a one-day event to promote dog adoptions and to raise awareness about rescues and shelters in western Pennsylvania. The event will be held in the parking lot next to McCormick & Schmick's on Sidney Street. This outdoor festival will feature dozens of animal shelters, breed-specific rescues, specialty vendors and guest deejays from Clear Channel Radio. This year, DogtoberFEST is presenting a Pooch Pride Parade and Costume Contest with up to $500 in prizes available for Most Original Costume and Dog-Owner Look-Alike. The pet parade begins at 11 a.m. Enjoy homemade food, live entertainment, training demonstrations, and Ask-A-Trainer and Ask-A-Vet booths. Any eligible dogs can participate in an on-site rabies clinic.

Adoptable dogs from across the Pittsburgh region will be featured and available for meet-and-greets, but any adoptions will be handled after the event through event officials. Dogs from the public are welcome to come and meet the adoptable dogs or just have a day out on the town. Public dogs must be vaccinated and on a non-retractable leash. Fenced meet-and-greet areas and potty break areas will be available for all dogs.
