Animal Friends Tag Day Text-A-Thon

Animal Friends' shelter dogs will be stationed throughout downtown Pittsburgh, “begging” for spare change and barking about the importance of licensing your pet. People can also donate $10 simply by texting the word “Paw” to 85944 all day long! Animal Friends will also accept donations of cash and checks. Pet lovers who show Animal Friends a picture of their pet will receive a coupon for a free treat from Animal Friends' retail store. The dogs' goals are to raise $2,500 for Animal Friends in one day and to introduce people to some adoptable canines along the way. Animal Friends' volunteers will be on the other ends of the leashes, collecting donations and answering questions about pet adoption and reasons to tag and license your dog. Many donors will be photographed for Animal Friends' website and Facebook page.  for the specific locations of the dogs located throughout downtown.

You can find the dogs at the following locations:

  • Macy’s (Smithfield)
  • 7th & Grant st.
  • 6th & Grant St.
  • City County Building (Grant and Forbes)
  • Golden Triangle/Point State Park
