BALDWIN 8US LIGHT ‘EM UP AT THEIR HOME TOURNAMENT!!!

Once again, the Baldwin 8Us were on fire this past weekend, sweeping the GBWAA tournament and defeating Kennedy in the championship game with a win of 3 to 2.  With their trophy in hand, it was all smiles and cheers, but winning the championship at home in front of all of the Baldwin fans made this victory incredibly sweet.  The 8Us ended their season with an astounding 15 wins and only 1 loss.

When asked to reflect about this past 8U All-Star season, All-Star Manager, Michael Crough states, “Having a team go 15-1 during an entire travel season is extraordinary.  Watching defense turn double plays, cut off hard hit grounders and holding teams to usually under 5 runs was amazing.  This team learned to play as a team, and that’s what brought them success.  There wasn’t a play that was made  without having another teammate there to back them up.  I hope this year was a memory that they will eventually tell their kids and grandkids about.”  Throughout the entire All-Star season, these ladies have shown us that purple is a force to be reckoned with.  Stay radioactive girls!!

In related news, the 10Us took third out of 9 teams this past weekend at GBWAA’s tournament, losing to Kennedy in the semi-finals.  They battled hard until the end and walked off the field with their heads high.  When asked to reflect about this past 10U All-Star season, All-Star Manager, Tim Conlan states, “I watched these girls battle this entire All-Star season.  They played with heart every game and always showcased their talent and sportsmanship.  I am extremely proud to have coached them.”  Throughout this entire All-Star season, these ladies have shown us true team spirit throughout some big wins and tough battles.  Keep shining girls!!!

GBWAA’s 2013 tournament was an event to be remembered and was enjoyed by all players, families and spectators.  Although there were many curve balls thrown at the tournament director, including unpredictable weather and ball fields that turned into lakes, it was an overall success.  A special thanks to the overwhelming amount of volunteers this weekend.  Your time and dedication contributed to the success of this tournament.

On a personal note, to all of the coaches and volunteers of this organization, you are the ones who make a difference in a child’s life, sometimes big and sometimes small.  It is your dedication and commitment to these girls and this game that builds self-esteem, pride and confidence in a child who wants to be successful.  You are teachers….You are mentors….  All of you bring a piece of knowledge to this game that has helped all of our All-Stars shine brighter.  On behalf of GBWAA, thank you for loving this game and treating these girls like one of your own.  Your efforts have not gone unnoticed.  You will forever be etched in a little girl’s memory.  She will never forget you saying, “Great job”, “You can do it” or “Way to go kid.”, and the parents will never forget you bent down on one knee encouraging, wiping away tears and hugging their girls.  That’s what it’s all about.
