UPDATE: Winter Weather Advisory in Effect for Baldwin-Whitehall

Get ready for some snow and cold temps!

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has extended its winter weather advisory in effect for southwestern Pennsylvania until 1 p.m. on Sunday.

An accumulation of up to another inch of snow is forecast as snow showers continue through the morning, the weather service stated in an 8:56 a.m. announcement. Blowing snow will reduce visibility and create hazardous travel conditions.

You might want to duck out of work a little early today, as a winter weather advisory is in effect for Allegheny County this weekend.

According to the , the Pittsburgh area is under an advisory from 6 p.m. on Friday night through 6 a.m. on Sunday morning.

The area is expected to receive a total of 2 to 4 inches of snow during that time. The first snowfall on Friday is expected to make untreated surfaces slippery and covered with 1 inch of accumulation.

Friday night's low temperature will be 25 degrees.

The second snowfall—expected to occur early on Saturday and lasting into Saturday night—could add up to 3 more inches of accumulation and be accompanied by gusty winds. Winds could gust as fast as 28 mph.

Wind chills of close to 0 degrees are expected by Saturday night.

There will be a chance for snow showers on Sunday before 5 p.m. Sunday's high is predicted at 27 degrees, with the low at 16.
