The Baldwin-Whitehall Patch published live updates in the comments section on the right-hand side of its home page during a Baldwin-Whitehall school board meeting on Wednesday night, March 9.

This practice received lots of positive feedback, but the B-W Patch's home page does not alert readers when comments are posted in that area.

Though the B-W Patch also published those same live updates on its Facebook page, the best way to get live alerts is truly by using Twitter.

Indeed, not only does the B-W Patch tweet about all of its new stories, weather updates and traffic tips, it also publishes live updates from breaking stories through that medium.

If you're not in front of a computer (or using your cell phone to go online), you can still get live B-W Patch tweets by having them sent to your cell phone via text-messaging.

It's simple. After you "follow" the B-W Patch on Twitter, click on the cell-phone icon next to the green "Following" button. (You must set up a mobile connection in your user settings first. But don't be afraid; it's easy.)

Even if you don't want tweets sent to your cell phone, using Twitter is fun. You can follow your favorite sports teams, celebrities, etc., and post your own tweets. You could also re-tweet the B-W Patch's tweets.
