UPDATE: Water Break on Route 51 in Whitehall Affecting Both North and South Traffic

Area of detail is between Eat'n Park and Benson Lincoln Mercury.

UPDATE: Traffic has returned to normal.

Crews from Pennsylvania American Water Company are dealing with a water main break along Route 51 in that has caused traffic heading both ways on that busy road to be reduced to a single lane in both directions.

Gary Lobaugh, Pennsylvania American Water's External Affairs Manager for Western Pennsylvania, said that the break happened at around 2 a.m. on Saturday morning, Oct. 22. About 12 customers are affected, Lobaugh said, and the water company hopes to finish replacing the approximately 75-year-old broken pipe sometime early Saturday afternoon.

Traffic, which is backed up heavily along Route 51 between and , should be back to normal sometime shortly after, Lobaugh said.

Traffic trying to get onto Route 51 or cross Route 51 from Streets Run Road (both next to Eat'n Park and facing Eat'n Park) is also backed up heavily.
