Severe Thunderstorm Watch Expires for Baldwin and Whitehall

The watch expired early.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for southwestern Pennsylvania, including Baldwin Borough, Whitehall Borough and Baldwin Township.

The watch remains in effect through 10 p.m. on Wednesday, according to representatives from the National Weather Service, which say that some storms could be severe with damaging winds. The chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected mainly after 5 p.m. and before midnight.

A hazardous weather outlook is also in effect this week, with frosty and potentially freezing conditions possible on Friday and Saturday nights and even Sunday.

Here's a look at the forecast:

  • Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Southwest wind of 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half of an inch are possible.
  • Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Southwest wind of 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts between a 10th and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible during thunderstorms.
  • Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Cloudy, with a low around 44. Northwest wind of 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a 10th and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible during thunderstorms.
  • Friday: A chance of showers, mainly before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. North wind of 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a 10th of an inch are possible.
  • Friday Night: Patchy frost after 2 a.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 36.
  • Saturday: Patchy frost before 10 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 63.
  • Saturday Night: Patchy frost after 1 a.m. Otherwise, clear, with a low around 35.
  • Sunday: Patchy frost before 10 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 66.
