Severe Thunderstorm Possible Wednesday Afternoon in Baldwin, Whitehall

There is a small chance that thunderstorms may become severe on Wednesday afternoon in Baldwin Borough, Baldwin Township and Whitehall Borough, according to a hazardous outlook issued by the National Weather Service in Moon Township.

"The primary threat would be from damaging wind gusts, but large hail is also possible," according to the weather service.

Here is a more detailed look at the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday:

• Wednesday: A slight chance of showers before noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between noon and 2 p.m., then showers likely and, possibly, a thunderstorm after 2. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Breezy, with a west wind of 15 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a 10th and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible during thunderstorms.
• Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 3 a.m., then a slight chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. West wind of 5 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a 10th and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible during thunderstorms.
• Thursday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 76. Calm wind becoming west at 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
