Police, Crews at Brownsville-Route 51 Intersection Not There for Water Lines

Painting of crosswalk lines to be completed soon.

The high-traffic intersection of Route 51 and Brownsville Road on the border of Brentwood and boroughs has crews on-scene, including a Brentwood police officer, and traffic is being slowly directed through the area.

That same intersection has been the site of many water-line improvement projects over the past few months, causing delays and headaches for drivers in Baldwin-Whitehall and Brentwood, but Monday's work is not related to any water lines, the Brentwood policeman said.

The intersection is merely having its crosswalks re-painted, and the project is expected to be completed soon, at least by the end of the day.
