PHOTOS: New Traffic Pattern at Curry Hollow-Brownsville Intersection

Starting on Wednesday, traffic on Curry Hollow Road near its Brownsville Road/Broughton Road intersection will shift.

No, 's not done yet (sorry); the roadwork is just moving over a bit.

Right now, Curry Hollow's westbound lane (toward Broughton) is handling vehicles near that intersection that are heading both east and west. But on Wednesday, the westbound lane will be closed, and traffic going both ways will shift over to the eastbound lane (toward Route 51).

Temporary traffic signals will remain in place as this large, $8.6-million project being overseen by the Allegheny County Department of Public Works moves along toward completion, which, at last estimate, is expected to come in the spring of 2013.

The county's Public Works office is cooperating with the  on this project taking place on the borders of , Pleasant Hills Borough and South Park Township.

The project—aimed at ultimately improving traffic flow at that busy intersection—includes intersection realignment, reconstruction, widening, bituminous paving, concrete installation, and reconstruction and extension of a concrete arch culvert, as well as improvements to drainage, curbs, sidewalks, traffic signals and more.

The prime contractor is Frank J. Zottola Construction, Inc., of Valencia Borough.
