Momsday: The Great Escape, Part II

Catch the Winter Blues Comedy Cure at Salvatore's on Saturday.

Your teens are holding a car wash at the high school on Saturday. Their grandparents volunteered to take the younger children to a movie on Sunday afternoon. Your tweens take a nap on Wednesday evening. Whatever the reason, it's your time then. Take it.

Each week, the Baldwin-Whitehall Patch, with help from its coveted Moms Council, will give you at least one great idea to give you a much deserved break and make your life a little easier – maybe a whole lot easier.

The following tips come from our Moms Columnist, .

The Whitehall Recreation Board is hosting its  on Saturday, Feb. 19, and this is one you will not want to miss!

This year’s event is at  on Curry Road and features a full dinner buffet, complimentary draft beer, soft drinks and dessert. The main attraction of the evening is not just one but three comedy acts. Mike Eagan, seen on A&E and Comedy Central, will be headlining. Comedians Chuck Krieger and “Pittsburgh’s King of Comedy” David Kaye are the night’s other performers.

Tickets for dinner and the show are only $40 per person. Doors open at 6 p.m., dinner starts at 6:45 and the show starts at 8. Show-only (non-dinner) tickets go for $25.

Tickets are available online at www.whitehallboro.org – go to the recreation link there – or by calling 412-334-5646. If you want to get a group of friends together and go, the event can hold 10 persons per table. You can designate your group’s seating on the recreation board’s form on the aforementioned website. (That form, a pdf, is also available in the photo gallery near the top of this page.)

There will even be raffle prizes, a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle, and after the show, there will be music and dancing. Space is limited, so don’t wait to get those tickets.

This sounds like a night of great food, friends and lots of laughter. And with it being so close to home, who would want to miss out? Grab a sitter and go enjoy this one!

Looking for something during the week for a little downtime with a friend?

Why not call a good friend and grab some lunch over an adult conversation.

in Caste Village offers some great daily lunch specials. Have you ever tried Italian Oven's quattro formaggi, or four cheese, pizza? It is topped with caramelized onions, spinach, goat cheese and pistachios. Yummy!

Grab a cup of soup and split a pizza with a friend. It’s good comfort food for those winter blues. You can walk off the calories strolling around the shopping center afterwards. Food, friends and shopping – a mom’s favorite things!

Also this week, why not grab that box of chocolates, a great romantic movie and your favorite blanket and go curl up on the couch for some great alone time?

Shhh, it’s our secret, and it will leave you refreshed, revitalized and ready for when the school bus returns and your job as “ mom extraordinaire” continues.

Have a great week, moms, and remember to take some time for yourself. Every mom needs some!
