Grove Road and Route 88 Roadwork on Tap

Single-lane, alternating-use traffic patterns expected from late Thursday to early Friday.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 11-0 is announcing that short-term lane closures on Route 88 and Grove Road in Castle Shannon Borough will begin on Thursday night, July 7, weather permitting.

Lane closures and single-lane, alternating-use traffic patterns will occur from 8 p.m. on Thursday to 6 a.m. on Friday. Crews will be milling and paving on Grove Road and placing asphalt curb on Route 88.

Route 88

  • Between Grove and Havelock Street

Grove Road

  • Between 88 and McRoberts Road (on the Castle Shannon- border)

 

The work is part of a $4.7-million project started in late 2009 to improve Route 88 from Castle Shannon Boulevard to 6th Street/Killarney Drive. The prime contractor is C.H. & D. Enterprises, Inc., of New Stanton Borough.

Overall work will conclude in August 2011.

UPDATE: The overall work is now expected to conclude in October 2011.
