REMINDER: East Carson Street Long-Term Closure Begins May 15 in Baldwin Borough

PennDOT is expecting nine days of work to repair a damaged water tunnel underneath East Carson.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 11-0 is announcing that work to repair or replace a damaged culvert, or water tunnel, under State Route 837 (East Carson Street) in and the City of Pittsburgh will begin on Sunday, May 15, at approximately 6 p.m. (weather permitting).

The work will require East Carson to be closed between Becks Run Road and the Glenwood Bridge around-the-clock from May 15 through May 23.

This area has experienced persistent problems with drainage and sinkholes over the past few years. PennDOT is taking this measure to address the problem before more severe damage occurs. The full closure is necessary to excavate a failed pipe beneath East Carson.
