Baptist Homes Residents Collect Canned Goods, Money for SHIM

Providence Point and Baptist Homes held a friendly competition between the two campuses for their second annual Community Collection Challenge.

Residents at Providence Point in Scott Township won the competition by collecting 201 food items and $579 for the South Hills Interfaith Ministries.

Residents at The Baptist Homes on Castle Shannon Boulevard collected 629 food items and $102.

The Baptist Homes Society, which runs both senior living communities, held a ceremony for the Providence Point winners last Thursday.

A homemade “Challenge Trophy” was handed over from the Baptist Homes residents, who won the first competition last year, to Providence Point’s staff and residents.

James Guffey, the executive director of South Hills Interfaith Ministries, was also at the ceremony to celebrate with the residents and discuss how important the annual food and donation drive is to the area.
