REMINDER: Array of Becks Run Projects on Tap for 2012

Traffic headaches for north Baldwin residents.

The Pennsylvania American Water Company's ongoing $101-million project aimed at improving water-treatment processes and ensuring that the company's drinking water continues to comply with all U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards will cause more traffic headaches in the north and South Side of Pittsburgh areas this year.

The project should be wrapped up by midsummer but not before a good bit of work happens on Becks Run Road, East Carson Street, Agnew Road and more.

As described in a Jan. 27 article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette—and seen in a PDF accompanying this article—PA American Water's biggest disruption as part of this project will be the occurrence of alternating one-way traffic (controlled by a temporary traffic light) at the Becks Run-Bajo Street/Parkwood Road intersection.

That traffic disruption will occur during April and May when crews will connect a 42-inch water main to three 24-inch pipes.

But before that, alternating one-way traffic will also occur near the Becks Run-Agnew intersection from late February to early May to allow crews to connect two 48-inch water mains.
