UPDATES: Less than 100 Duquesne Light Customers without Power
After the numbers jumped from 350 to 650, Duquesne Light says that less than 100 homes are in the dark.
As of 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, less than 100 Duquesne Light customers are without power as a result of the strong winds and rain from Superstorm Sandy that swept through western Pennsylvania on Monday.
That number is down from 650 customers earlier on Tuesday. Duquesne Light expects power to be restored to all customers by 11 p.m.
Workers have spent the day restoring power by removing trees and repairing downed wires. Company spokesman Brian Knavish has said that the outages are scattered throughout Allegheny and Beaver counties.

Duquesne Light warns that downed wires are a safety hazard and should be avoided because of the risk of electrical shock and injury.
In addition, residents are advised to not drive over or go near downed wires.
