UPDATE: About 800 Duquesne Light Customers Remain Without Power

Some 3,300 were without power last night.

Overnight restoration efforts by Duquesne Light crews have greatly reduced the number of affected Pittsburgh-area customers, as only 800 remain without service as of 8 a.m., according to spokesman Joseph Vallarian.

Duquesne Light crews are continuing to restore power by removing trees and repairing downed wires.

The city's eastern suburbs took the brunt of the storm yesterday, and that remains where the majority of the affected customers are located. There were multiple cases of downed wires in those areas, causing the power outages, Vallarian said.

System restoration time is undetermined at this time, but officials said that they do expect to have customers restored today.

Residents are also asked to please report any outages by calling Duquesne Light at 1-888-393-7000 or by visiting www.duquesnelight.com.

Downed wires are a safety hazard and should be avoided. They pose the danger of electrical shock and injury. Residents are advised to not drive over or go near downed wires.
