Return Policies for Those Unwanted Gifts

Stores will be swamped with returns after Christmas.

Christmas is over, so traffic at the stores will die down, right?

Wrong.

Time for all of those unwanted holiday gifts to get returned.

To make your life a little bit easier, here are the return policies for some of the Pittsburgh area's largest retailers:

Macy's
Items can be returned at any location. If you have a voucher, you can return an item in its original form at any time. If you don't have a proof of purchase, you can get store credit at the item's lowest selling price within the past 180 days. Click here for more information.

Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart has changed its return policy to accommodate holiday shoppers. For items that were purchased between Nov. 1 and Dec. 24 that have a limited return/exchange period (15 days, 30 days, et al.), the limited period will begin on Dec. 26. This includes items such as TVs, cameras, computers and DVD and music players. Click here for the full return policy.

Toys"R"Us/Babies"R"Us
Items must be returned within 90 days and in new condition and original packaging. The company reserves the right to refuse any returns if they do not meet requirements. Click here to learn more.

Target
Customers must have a receipt or valid photo ID and return items in new condition within 90 days of purchase. However, the following items must be returned within 30 days: e-readers, netbooks, tablets, cameras, camcorders, digital audio players, GPS devices, video game hardware, personal DVD players and no-contract cellphones. These may only be exchanged if unopened: music, movies, video games and software. If items were purchased between Nov. 1 and Dec. 25, the 30-day refund period begins Dec. 26. Kohl's
"Return any item, anytime, for any reason," states Kohls.com. Whether you have your receipt or not, you can get a full exchange or store credit. 

Best Buy
Purchases made between Nov. 4 and Dec. 24 can be returned through Jan. 24. Best Buy requires the original receipt, gift receipt or packing slip for all returns and exchanges. A valid ID is also required. Click here for all of the details.
