Bottom Dollar Food, a discount supermarket chain based in North Carolina, will officially open for business in on Jan. 26, according to Barry S. Rogers, real estate manager for the Brownsville Plaza.

The store's façade and front entranceway could still be seen being worked on—see photo gallery—on Tuesday, Jan. 10. Bottom Dollar is at the site of the old Bradley House of Catering along Brownsville Road in south Baldwin (near the intersection of Brownsville and Knoedler roads).

“Additionally, we provide our customers an energetic and lighthearted shopping experience.”

Bottom Dollar opened its first store in High Point, NC, in 2005 and has quickly expanded to 47 locations.

“We are excited to have a new business in the borough and to see improvements being made to the shopping center,” Baldwin Borough Manager John M. Barrett said in August. “Not only will the shopping center receive a complete façade renovation, the parking lot will (also) be improved, as will the lighting and landscaping of the property.

“We anticipate the shopping-center renovation to attract additional businesses to the site and believe this will be a benefit for area residents.”

Improvements to the shopping center itself could already be seen on Jan. 10. Rogers said that the 3.6-acre Brownsville Plaza will receive new signage soon, as well.

Bottom Dollar Food will occupy 24,141 square feet of the plaza. Three other tenants already reside there: (3,271 square feet),  (3,184) and (613).

Three vacant lots are also at the plaza with square-foot sizes of 2,725; 2,148; and 843.
