The following news release was submitted for publication by the Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania:

Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania has partnered up with Gene Natali, author of ‘The Missing Semester’ and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society of Pittsburgh to develop JA Money 101- a unique program in personal financial literacy that will be implemented in high schools around the Greater Pittsburgh region this spring.

The course, based on five volunteer-led sessions, will provide each student with the following upon completion:
  • A copy of ‘The Missing Semester’ which is to be read as part of the course curriculum
  • A 5-year financial plan created by each student using ‘The Missing Semester’ and JA course work as a guide
  • An opportunity to have the financial plan reviewed by a college student through a partnership with the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University
  • A volunteer from the CFA Society to serve as a “classroom consultant” to provide further guidance and answer any questions students may have
Upon completion of the JA Personal Finance course, students will attend a one-hour presentation hosted by a finance professional from the CFA Society of Pittsburgh.

High schools in the Greater Pittsburgh Area interested in implementing this program should contact Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania by phone, 412-208-4747, ext. 133, or through its website, jawesternpa.org.
