The following news release was submitted for publication by the Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania:
Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania has partnered up with Gene Natali, author of ‘The Missing Semester’ and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society of Pittsburgh to develop JA Money 101- a unique program in personal financial literacy that will be implemented in high schools around the Greater Pittsburgh region this spring.
The course, based on five volunteer-led sessions, will provide each student with the following upon completion:
- A copy of ‘The Missing Semester’ which is to be read as part of the course curriculum
- A 5-year financial plan created by each student using ‘The Missing Semester’ and JA course work as a guide
- An opportunity to have the financial plan reviewed by a college student through a partnership with the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University
- A volunteer from the CFA Society to serve as a “classroom consultant” to provide further guidance and answer any questions students may have
High schools in the Greater Pittsburgh Area interested in implementing this program should contact Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania by phone, 412-208-4747, ext. 133, or through its website, jawesternpa.org.
