Economic Development South Benefits from Tax Credit Program

The goal is to get the Allegheny Conference's member companies to invest for tax credits through the state's Neighborhood Partnership Program.

The Allegheny Conference on Community Development has chosen Economic Development South as one of five community groups that will benefit from a new, six-year investment project.

The Strengthening Communities Partnership is an initiative to get the conference's member companies to invest for tax credits through the state's Neighborhood Partnership Program, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Thursday. For $50,000 every year for six years, a company can get 80 percent tax credits.

Economic Development South includes Baldwin Borough, Whitehall, Brentwood, Overbrook and Carrick.

Dennis Yablonsky, CEO of the Allegheny Conference, said this project was devised to correct disparities between communities that have benefitted from the region's progress and those that have lagged, according to the Post-Gazette.
