B-B-W Chamber of Commerce Board Meetings Update

The board's Feb. 22 meeting was moved to Feb. 23. The meeting's minutes will be posted on the chamber's website.

The Brentwood-Baldwin-Whitehall Chamber of Commerce held its second Board of Directors meeting of 2011 in the Greater Beneficial Union building on Feb. 23.

The meeting was originally scheduled for Feb. 22, but a major snowstorm from the night before caused the meeting to be pushed back one day.

The Baldwin-Whitehall Patch attempted to attend the Feb. 23 meeting but was never made aware of the rescheduled date until yesterday, March 1, despite multiple phone calls and emails.

When B-B-W Chamber of Commerce Secretary Mary Dilla eventually returned an email from the B-W Patch, she advised that the chamber's Board of Directors discussed continuing to allow the B-W Patch to attend board meetings.

"The BOD [Board of Directors] meeting is really not an open session," Dilla wrote in an email. "They [the Board of Directors] feel that your [the B-W Patch's] presence may inhibit discussion and are concerned discussion meant for BOD members may be published.

"Therefore, the BOD would appreciate your not attending the Board of Directors meetings."

The B-W Patch respects the Board of Directors' decision and thanks it for allowing the B-W Patch to at least attend .

Dilla pointed out that minutes from the chamber's Board of Directors meetings are available on the chamber's website here once they become approved by the board. The minutes from the Feb. 23 meeting have not been approved yet.

It should be mentioned, however, that as of 12:01 a.m. today, March 2, some of the links on the chamber's meeting-minutes webpage are not functional.

Dilla also said in her email that the chamber holds general luncheon meetings on the first Thursday of every month and that the chamber's next luncheon meeting will be held on March 3 at at noon. The cost to attend the luncheon is $18 for non-chamber members, payable at the door.
