Morgan Traud, a sixth-grader at J.E. Harrison Middle School, has advanced to a semifinal round of this year's Kean Quest Talent Search.
The search, a competition that continues through April 5, benefits the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which, in 2012 alone, provided nearly $4.5 million to poor and low-income residents at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas who otherwise would not be able to afford their care.
The amateur talent contest is open to singers of all ages in two categories—ages 18 and younger and ages 19 and older. The top finalists from each of the competition's preliminary rounds advance to the semifinals.
Morgan, a Whitehall Borough resident, advanced to the semis via her performance of "The Wizard and I" from the musical "Wicked" during the competition's Youth Preliminary Round 3 on Sunday.
The semifinals will be held on March 17, followed by the finals on April 5. Each round's show is held at the Kean Theatre at 5847 Meridian Rd., Gibsonia, PA 15044. Click here for tickets information or contact 724-443.0800, ext. 5310, or ltassos@stbarnabashealthsystem.com. Tickets to the semifinals cost $10 each. They cost $14 each for the youth final.
The contest's champions will earn a recording session in a Grammy Award-winning studio.

God Bless you in your endeavors today, tomorrow, and always. I wish you all the best and encourage you to transcend any and all boundaries that may present themselves to you. To quote a famous biblical passage from the Sassy Jack bible (if I may be so bold), “Baby Jesus got yo’ back!” Happy Friday to all. Whiteheads – 3.5 (up due to Morgan’s accomplishment) Brentwood – 1.25 Baldwin – 0.5 (cc – I will deduct 1 point from Baldwin for Barney Fife. Thank you for pointing this out so I can amend the score)
