Duquesne University professor Joseph F. Rishel has compiled the memories of 17 Pittsburgh-area residents who lived through the years of World War II, from GIs serving overseas to real-life Rosie the Riveters who kept mills and factories in operation at home. Rishel will relay stories of combat, hardships at home, schoolchildren collecting scrap metal, USO dances and wartime sweethearts. Rishel's book is titled Pittsburgh Remembers World War II. Call 412-882-6622 to register for the event. Books will be available for purchase.
