'Bard Wars' Combines Shakespeare and Competition at CCAC-South

Fans of the work of William Shakespeare, aka "The Bard," can attend the Community College of Allegheny County-South Campus' first ever "Bard Wars” from June 28-30.

Each evening at 8, three theater companies will perform different 25-minute portions of The Bard's plays at the CCAC-South Campus in West Mifflin Borough in the hopes of winning the chance to put on a full production courtesy of CCAC. One company will be chosen as the winner by the votes of the audience and a panel of judges.

The judges include Lora Oxenreiter, director of the CCAC-South Campus' Pittsburgh New Works production; Bonnijean Adams, theatre critic for The Daily News; and Alice Carter, theatre critic for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

CCAC-South Campus students will have their chance to be a part of the play by enrolling in a Shakespeare in Production class offered by the school from July 3-Aug. 9.

The production of the winning company will run from Aug. 9-18.

Tickets for "Bard Wars" are $5 or a donation of five non-perishable food items, including canned goods. All proceeds will be donated to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
