Allegheny County Announces Lineup for 2013 Summer Concert Series

The series kicks off on Friday, May 31.

Allegheny County officials have announced the lineup for its 2013 Summer Concert Series.   

The Pittsburgh CLO will kick off the series on Friday, May 31, with "A Gleeful Evening, Vol. 3," featuring Gene Kelly Award winners, at the South Park Amphitheater.

Pittsburgh Opera will perform on Sunday, June 2, at the Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater.

Other scheduled performances include ones from Grammy Award winners Sara Watkins, The Yellowjackets and Rickie Lee Jones at Hartwood Acres, as well as Grammy Award nominees Monty Alexander, Sixpence None the Richer and James Hunter at South Park.

The concert series will come to an end on Sept. 1 with the Allegheny County Music Festival featuring Rusted Root and special guest Joel Plaskett at Hartwood Acres.

All performances are free and open to the public, with the exception of the Allegheny County Music Festival and the Pittsburgh Blues Festival (July 19-21) at Hartwood Acres.

Online ticket sales begin on May 15 at www.pghblues.com, and proceeds benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
