Winter Weather Interrupts Trash Service This Week

Waste Management customers may experience service interruptions due to recent arctic blast.

The following press release was submitted for publication by Waste Management:

Waste Management would like to remind its valued customers that a majority of the residential customers and some commercial customers in the Greater Pittsburgh area will be running one day behind for the remainder of the week.

Due to the extreme weather conditions, and for the safety of employees and communities serviced, Waste Management cancelled most residential, and some commercial routes on Tuesday, January 7th.  For the remainder of the week, pick up dates will be one day behind with Friday pick up taking place on Saturday.

“We realize this is an inconvenience to our customers, and would like to thank them for their continued cooperation,” said Erika Deyarmin, public affairs coordinator for Waste Management in Western Penn.  “With below zero temperatures to start the day, and even colder wind chills, it was in the best interest of our employees to keep them inside and off the road.”

Customers should be aware that recovery collection dates and times will be dependent on road and weather conditions.
