Snow Comes Down Fast in Plum, Oakmont & Verona

Well, those of you wishing for a winter wonderland at Christmastime have definitely gotten it.

Our area remains under a winter storm warning until 6 a.m. Thursday. The snow has been pretty steady in the Plum, Oakmont and Verona area since about 10 a.m. Wednesday. As of 3 p.m., it seems as though as least 3 inches has fallen.

It might not seem like a lot, but it's definitely causing some trouble on the roads. Route 28 was closed in both directions from Harmar to Tarentum (the Pittsburgh Mills) due to poor weather conditions, and multiple accidents have been reported in the region. Route 28 has since reopened.

Earlier this morning, a car reportedly drove over an embankment along Saltsburg Road in Plum.

Businesses also have altered their hours: The East Suburban YMCA in Plum will close when the last child in childcare is picked up, Sunseri Pizza in Verona is running on a two-hour delay, Brr-Kees Ice Cream in Oakmont will not open today, and Exhale Yoga's 7 p.m. class in Oakmont has been canceled. Citizen's Bank locations and Blvd Eyes in Oakmont also closed at 3 p.m.
