The Great Escape: Take a Momsday

"Baby Boomers Boogie Night" at Getaway Cafe on Saturday night will feature great music from the '50s, '60s, and '70s.

Your teens are holding a car wash at the high school on Saturday. Their grandparents volunteered to take the younger children to a movie on Sunday afternoon. Your tweens take a nap on Wednesday evening. Whatever the reason, it's your time then. Take it.

Each week, the Baldwin-Whitehall Patch, with help from its coveted Moms Council, will give you at least one great idea to give you a much deserved break and make your life a little easier – maybe a whole lot easier.

The following tips once again come from our Moms Columnist, .

Hello, Moms! Did you get out and enjoy some of that warm weather last week? I know that I'm hoping that Punxsutawney Phil was right this time and that spring is just around the corner.

But, hey, don't get stuck waiting in the house this week. We have some great things happening around the area again.

Friday-Saturday, Feb. 25-26, there are two great events happening close to home that you could enjoy some music and dancing at.

On Friday night,  on Curry Road is hosting a live band. The Elliotts will be performing music that night from the likes of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Tom Petty, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Badfinger, Led Zepplin, Cream and more!

The show is open to all for only a $3 cover charge, and the fun starts at 9 p.m.

The Elliotts have a strong reputation and actually performed during Beatles Week in Liverpool, England, so go rock and roll (some bowling balls) over at Legacy Lanes on Friday night.

on Sussex Avenue in Baldwin Township is having a "" on Saturday night featuring DJ Skip Smith, who will be spinning your favorite music from the '50s, '60s, and '70s. The fun starts at 8 p.m., and reservations are a must. So get your friends together now and make time for a night of dancing to some great old tunes!

Ok, moms, so now you know of two great places to go out with your friends or your honey this weekend, but how do you get in touch with everyone to make plans? Do you know how to use the latest technology, or are you like me and getting a little bit behind because of all the other 101 things that you need to accomplish in a week?

is offering a class on Thursday, March 3, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. called "." During this class, you will learn from technology gurus and local teens how to use an iPad, an iPod and/or an eReader.

Learn how to get in touch with everyone on Facebook to set up a fun night out or a lunch with your girlfriends. Registration is requested, but the class is free to all. This is a great way to catch up on the latest technological tools that our kids are using and to see how we can benefit from them, too!

So now that you have learned how to get that great new novel onto your eReader, grab a blanket and a comfy couch and let your mind escape to a great faraway place for some "Mommy Time." We all need some.

Have a great week!
