Patch Picks: Alter Ego, Norman Nardini Will Play Live in Baldwin Borough This Friday Night

Where can I hear live music around the area?

The Baldwin-Whitehall Patch presents its newest weekly Patch Picks feature, highlighting editor and reader picks of great local businesses, destinations, services, organizations, ways to spend a day off and more.

Here is this week's list, calling out the B-W Patch's picks of the best nearby places to hear live music:

  • (Formerly South Hills Bowl, this bowling alley on Curry Road hosts shows pretty much every week. is playing at Legacy Lanes on Friday night, March 18, at 9 p.m. Cover charge is $3.)
  • Baltimore House on Curry Hollow Road (Not only a great place to eat – this writer recommends the seafood – but it can be a lot of fun to listen to live music while you munch and drink away. There is usually no cover charge for the music, though Baltimore House probably prefers that you grab a bite and/or a drink.)
  • Altman's Tavern on Old Clairton Road (Like Baltimore House, this bar/restaurant is located in nearby Pleasant Hills Borough. Cool atmosphere with live acts usually every other weekend.)
  • (Located right next to  on Churchview Avenue, this fire-themed bar/restaurant always has cool acts. Alter Ego plays this Friday night at 9:30 p.m. for a $5 cover charge.)
  •  (These students deserve a shout-out. runs this year from March 27 to April 9. The March 27 performance is a free show for senior citizens only, but tickets to the April 1-9 shows cost $10 each.)
