Nightly Liberty Tunnel Closures Begin April 2

About 45,000 vehicles use the Liberty Tunnel on an average day, according to PennDOT.

The Liberty Tunnel will be closed in both directions nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday starting the night of April 2 and running through November 2013.

Outbound closures will begin about two hours later on nights of Pittsburgh Penguins home games.

The closures are part of the $18.8 million fourth phase of work to improve the tunnel.
