Momsday: The Great Escape

Armstrong's and Bruegger's are two great places to be with friends. Also, have you tried writing short stories?

Your teens are holding a car wash at the high school on Saturday. Their grandparents volunteered to take the younger children to a movie on Sunday afternoon. Your tweens take a nap on Wednesday evening. Whatever the reason, it's your time then. Take it.

Each week, the Baldwin-Whitehall Patch, with help from its coveted Moms Council, will give you at least one great idea to give you a much deserved break and make your life a little easier – maybe a whole lot easier.

The following tips once again come from our Moms Columnist, .

Hello, Moms! Did you have a good week?

Don't worry; spring will be here soon. I actually had a whole flock of birds in my yard this week that were apparently on their way back from their sunny winter vacation, so that is a sure sign that spring is on the way!

Soon, the kids will be able to play outside again, and we can get out and enjoy the sunshine and outdoor activities that we've all been missing.

Are you looking for a great restaurant this weekend to enjoy a nice, quiet dinner for two? Or going out with a group of friends? Why not head to in Caste Village.

I can remember when Armstrong's was located farther down on Grove Road, and the restaurant so was tiny that you had to wait for hours to get a table. Still, it was always worth the wait. Many times, the wait was so long that my husband and I ended up getting our order to go and grabbed a movie on the way home for a nice quiet evening for two.

Armstrong's location in Caste Village is much more spacious than its old spot and is always a great dining experience. My husband and I always have a great night out by ourselves or with a group of friends there.

The restaurant's full menu is always available for takeout, too, and that has saved this mom a few times when she needed a good meal for her family but did not have time to cook.

Armstrong's serves enormous portions, and everything on the menu is priced to please. Trust me; if you eat at Armstrong's, you will not leave hungry. Just make sure that you wear an outfit that has a little extra room, because you will need it by the time that you leave!

Okay, moms, looking to go grab a quick breakfast with your friends after putting the kids on the bus? "Baker's Choice" right now is Golden French Toast coffee with a french-toast bagel complete with Vermont maple cream cheese on top. YUMMY!!!

So, get those kids off to school, grab your friends and head over to Bruegger's on Route 51 for a tasty breakfast and some great mom's time. Afterwards, you can head off to the grocery store to cross off one of the other errands on your daily list.

Over the last few weeks, I have been telling you to grab a comfy couch, a blanket and your favorite novel for some more mom's time. Well, did you ever think about actually writing a short story for yourself or for your kids?

is holding a Creative Writing Workshop for adults in March. It is a four-session workshop on Saturdays, March 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. The class is free, but participants are required to attend all four sessions. Space is limited, and online registration is required by March 5.

Writing is a great way to let your imagination go and forget all of the stresses of your day as mom, chauffer, accountant, chef, etc. You may surprise yourself and become the next famous author. Then, you could hire a chauffer, accountant, chef, etc.

Have a great week, moms! Go get some "Mommy Time." Remember; every mom needs some.
