Why Go?: This week, the  is screening the movie One Day.

Where?/When?: New Hazlett Theater (Allegheny Center)/Friday-Saturday, Dec. 9-10, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 11, 2 p.m.
Why Go?: "A Lyrical Christmas Carol" will be on stage at the New Hazlett Theater in Pittsburgh's Allegheny Center neighborhood. Charles Dickens' magical tale of Scrooge, Ghosts, Tiny Tim and the Cratchit family returns this holiday season by popular demand. This particular classic tale of redemption was created in 1991 by Ken and Jane Gargaro. The heartwarming show brims with holiday spirit. Seasonal carols and the music of Bach, Mozart and Vaughn Williams provide a tuneful framework for this production.

Where?/When?: /Saturday, Dec. 10, 8-11 a.m.
Why Go?: Join the Italian Oven for its second annual Breakfast with Santa. Santa will walk around and talk to all of the kiddies while they enjoy a wonderful breakfast! He will also be available for those who want to climb up on his lap and whisper their Christmas wish lists into his ear. Also making an appearance will be the always cheery and helpful Mrs. Claus! Someone has to tell Santa when to put down the cookies.

Where?/When?: /Saturday, Dec. 10, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Why Go?: Holy Trinity is proud to present this year's Cookie Walk, held in its multipurpose room. Let Holy Trinity do your holiday baking for you! Come early, because the cookies are gone before you know it! The Cookie Walk features cookies made by Holy Trinity parishioners in addition to apple strudels and nut roll made by Holy Trinity's women's organization. Mix and match or buy all of one kind. The cookies are sold by the dozen.
Pricing: Varies, though admission is free.

Where?/When?: Lowe's (Bethel Park)/Saturday, Dec. 10, 10 a.m.
Why Go?: This is the second part of the 2011 Lowe's Train! Bring your kids to Lowe's to build this awesome coal car!

Where?/When?: /Sunday, Dec. 11, 1 p.m.
Why Go?: The South Hills Junior Orchestra will perform at a benefit concert at Boyce Middle School in Upper St. Clair Township. The theme of the event is holiday music and giving, and the student members of the orchestra will conduct and play seasonal carols such as "Sleigh Ride," "Chanukah Celebration," "Joy to the World," "Deck the Halls" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." The concert is a fundraiser for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, the Upper St. Clair School District Fine and Performing Arts Department and, specifically, the Boyce/Upper St. Clair Theater. The organizing group is requesting that those who attend the concert bring food items as a donation to the food bank. In addition, monetary gifts will be used to help purchase a new piano for Boyce Middle School. The middle school would like to raise $6,000 for an upright piano for music performances.
Pricing: A food item donation and/or a monetary gift.

Where?/When?: /Sunday, Dec. 11, 3 p.m.
Why Go?: The River City Brass Band will perform its show "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" at the Baldwin High School auditorium. Come experience this musical event!

Where?/When?: Upper St. Clair Theater/Sunday, Dec. 11, 4 p.m.
Why Go?: The Academy of Dance by Lori presents "A Magical Holiday Dance Spectacular." Join "Clara" and her brother on a magical trip through your favorite holiday stories. Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Santa's elves take you on a wonderful trip. This production highlights your favorite holiday characters through wonderful dancing. The best of ballet and a lot of jazz combine to entertain the whole family. The story ends with Pittsburgh's own Rockerettes in a magical fun-filled event.

Where?/When?: Holy Cross Church (Mt. Lebanon)/Sunday, Dec. 11, 5 p.m.
Why Go?: Don't miss out on this special night of performances by local Orthodox church choirs featuring beautiful hymns of the Nativity and ethnic Christmas carols expressed in their unique traditions.
Pricing: A free-will donation will be collected.

Where?/When?: /Sunday, Dec. 11, 6:30 p.m.
Why Go?: "Christmas @ Café Fusion" is a dessert theatre production that brings traditional Christmas characters into a modern day coffee shop. You'll enjoy a friendly atmosphere, free hot cocoa or coffee, and desserts as the story unfolds. This is a must-see event and a memorable experience during the holiday season.
